Futatsugame
This rocky crag looks like two crouching turtles, hence its name meaning “two turtles”. A great place for swimming, with the clearer water than anywhere else around Sado Island.

Donden Mountain
“Donden Mountain” is the nickname of Tadaramine (934 meters above sea level), which is located in the Osado mountain region. The top of the mountain is a gently sloping plateau where cattle graze.

Hiranezaki
The waves have eroded countless holes of all sizes into the rock. Ranked second in the world for the number of eroded holes, Hiranezaki is designated as a national natural monument.

Senkaku–wan Bay
Senkaku-wan Bay is a famous scenic spot on Sado Island. The ever-evolving cliff has been shaped by eons of erosion from the waves. Its shape is reminiscent of gothic architecture. This area has been designated as a marine park.

Toki
Toki (The Japanese crested ibis) is the symbol of Sado Island. This bird is has been designated as a protected species nationally and internationally. You can observe from a slight distance the roughly 100 toki that are currently being raised at the conservation center.

Niibo Toki Forest Park & Toki Exhibition
The Toki Exhibit in the park has live video of toki, video recordings of the hatching process, eggs, skeletons, stuffed birds, and much more information about these protected birds.

Yajima / Kyojima
Yajima / Kyojima are two peninsulas with beautiful scenery. Yajima once supplied the bamboo used for making high-quality arrows, while Kyojima is named for a famous priest who drifted ashore and chanted the sutras.

Mt. Momiji Park
Mt. Momiji Park is said to have the most beautiful autumn foliage on all of Sado Island. Take a walk on the paths, and on a clear day you can see Mt. Yahiko and Mt. Kakuda. The “Fall Foliage Festival” takes place here every October.

Osado Sky Line
Osado Sky Line is a panoramic 30-kilometer drive along the ridge of the Osado mountain range from Kanai to Aikawa. Enjoy a superb view of the entire island, which is particularly beautiful in mid-October during the fall foliage season.
