Cherry Blossom Viewing at Takada Castle
Nighttime cherry blossom viewing at Takada is one of the three best spots in Japan for the activity. Takada Castle is lit up by 3,600 lanterns, so you can see the 4,000 cherry blossom trees. The beauty of night is totally different from the tranquility of the daytime.

Kenshin Festival
This festival dedicated to warlord Uesugi Kenshin’s courage and virtue takes place every mid-August. Warriors with real armor and helmets march to Mt. Kasuga Shrine in a procession up to the foot of the mountains.

Mt. Myoko Sekiyama Shrine Fire Festival
Mt. Myoko Sekiyama Shrine Fire Festival is a festival boasting 1200 years of tradition. Many events take place including traditional stick-fighting, pine-tree pulling, portable shrine parades, dancing, and sumo wrestling. Also, the branches of a giant pine tree are lit on fire in a ritual to pray for a good harvest.
